January 12th Workshop

My first workshop of 2019 

"Making Ceramic Shards into Necklaces"

will happen on January 12th from 1 to 4 PM

at

GALLERY on PARK

This hands-on opportunity will familiarize you with many

ways to create Art to Wear necklaces with up-cycled

Pottery Shards...Each of these pottery shards 

is a piece of ceramic vision! 

They are an imagined bowl, cup or platter 

headed for the Holiday table or that special pitcher 

used to serve maple syrup on Sunday mornings.  

But somewhere en route to their continued existence,

 they met with an insurmountable hurdle. 

This in no way lessens their value 

as a symbol of a dream. 

Each tumbled smooth tactile clay shard 

embodies the process it took “to become” 

and to make one into a necklace to wear

 is to share in this inexplicable experience.

Keeping Track of Glazes

I am going to use this tray which has been stenciled with a grid 

as a test for different glazes, so I took a picture of the tray

with the first glaze areas in place, then posterized it

and printed it out.

As I add additional swirls of glaze, I will use a pencil to shade

in those areas on the printed copy and write the glaze name

in the borders so I know what I used where.
